Meet Your Instructor

I was a young boy who dreamed of owning and playing guitar. Several years later, as a teenager, I bought a guitar and had my first lesson. It was from that very moment that my life was changed forever.

Hello and welcome to Guitar Smith Online® (GSO). My name is Adam Baxley and I am the owner and instructor for GSO. Since 1996, I have been a professional instructor and musician sharing my passion for music and guitar with students and listeners.

As I continue to fine-tune my teaching strategies, it's increasingly obvious that students have a better chance of learning how to play guitar when I provide them with guitar lessons that are clear and concise, and offer guidance on what to practice. The probability for guitar playing success increases substantially when students are interested in learning and are motivated to practice consistently. In a nutshell, the formula for achieving the goal of becoming a guitar player is: Know what to practice and practice consistently.

GSO follows the same lesson plan I teach to my private students; and, although there are no shortcuts to becoming a good guitar player, there are tips and tools you can use to learn more efficiently. Everything I know about music, playing guitar, and helping students learn guitar are—or will be in the near future—incorporated into Guitar Smith Online®.

That being said, are you ready to become a guitar player?

“I have been trying to learn to read music for years. I have bought books and even taken college courses to learn how to read. In just a few short lessons, I am on my way to reading and learning where the notes are on the fretboard.”
